How Trusted Contacts Work

Your vault is protected by zero-knowledge encryption. That means not even we at Prepare That Day can ever access your data. Only your trusted contacts can — and even then, only after a strict process.

When a trusted contact requests access, a 48-hour window begins. During this time, you and all other trusted contacts are notified multiple times. If any of them veto the request, access is denied. If no one vetoes, access is granted to all trusted contacts once the window ends.

We recommend assigning at least two trusted contacts to cover different situations and ensure your wishes are respected.

Adding a Trusted Contact: 3 Simple Steps

Step 1: Invite Them

You send an invite. If they don’t have an account, they’ll need to create one.

Step 2: They Accept the Terms

To proceed, they must agree to our trusted contact terms and verify their identity.

Step 3: You Confirm

Only once you approve the connection, the encrypted key to your vault is shared using end-to-end encryption.
