Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: 1st June 2025
Welcome to Prepare That Day ("we", "our", "us"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website and services available at https://www.preparethat.day ("Website"). By accessing or using our Website, you agree to comply with these Terms. Prepare That Day is operated by Prepare That Day Ltd, registered in the United Kingdom.
1. Eligibility
Our services are intended for users aged 16 and above. By using our Website, you confirm you meet this requirement.
2. Nature of Service
Prepare That Day allows users to create secure digital vaults for storing sensitive personal data, intended for access by nominated trusted contacts in the event of death or incapacity. We do not offer legal or financial advice. Our platform is strictly an organisational tool.
3. Account Registration & Security
You must provide accurate information during registration. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and must not share them. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Subscription & Payments
Access to vault creation is via paid subscription. Payments are securely processed via Paddle. By subscribing, you agree to Paddle’s Buyer Terms. Prepare That Day follows a 14-day refund policy, in line with Paddle’s terms. If you are unsatisfied, you may request a refund within 14 days of your initial purchase. After this period, refunds are not guaranteed.
5. Trusted Contacts & Vault Access
As a user, you may nominate one or more trusted contacts. Trusted contacts may request access if they reasonably believe you are deceased or incapacitated. Misuse of this feature may lead to account termination.
Once access is granted to a trusted contact:
- A 90-day countdown will begin.
- At the end of the period, all user data and the account will be automatically and permanently deleted.
6. Zero-Knowledge Security
We use a zero-knowledge architecture. Your vault content is encrypted client-side. We cannot access or decrypt your data. Encryption keys are protected by your password, which we do not store.
To understand exactly what we can and cannot see, see /what-can-we-see.
7. Third-Party Services
We use Supabase, Twilio, Resend, Vercel, and Paddle to operate parts of our service. By using Prepare That Day, you acknowledge their involvement in our infrastructure.
8. Data Protection & Privacy
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Prepare That Day Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and complies with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We collect minimal personal information, including your email address, name, password hint (optional), sign-in times, and vault metadata (e.g. how many records you’ve stored — not their contents). Trusted contact names and emails are also stored for vault sharing purposes. Full details of what we can and cannot see are explained at /what-can-we-see.
All sensitive vault data is encrypted in your browser before transmission. We cannot access or decrypt your vault contents under any circumstances. Your master password and encryption keys are never stored or transmitted to us.
We use cookies and similar technologies to enable essential site functionality, such as authentication and analytics. By using our Website, you consent to the use of these technologies.
We rely on third-party providers including Supabase (data hosting and authentication), Twilio (notifications), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting), and Paddle (payment processing). Your data may be shared with these processors solely to provide our service, under strict contractual safeguards.
You may contact us at any time to request access to or deletion of your personal information. However, due to our zero-knowledge model, we cannot retrieve lost vault data if you forget your password.
9. User Conduct
You agree not to misuse the Website. This includes but is not limited to:
- Attempting to access data not intended for you
- Circumventing access controls
- Using the service for unlawful purposes
- Impersonating others
- Storing or sharing any illegal, offensive, or prohibited material
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
We provide our services "as is" and do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free use. We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not responsible for any access issues, data loss, or inability to recover data due to forgotten passwords or any user-side issues.
11. Limitation of Liability
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. You use the Website at your own risk. We are not responsible for lost or inaccessible data or any harm resulting from use of the Website.
12. Account Suspension or Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts for any misuse or breach of these Terms.
13. Changes to Terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the new Terms. We’ll notify you of major updates.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
